Building hearts that are fully committed to Christ and others

About Us

Brief History: Central Hunterdon Baptist Church was started in 1987 as a mission outreach of Bridgewater Baptist Church.  Nine families were part of the original core of individuals who committed themselves to the task of starting a missions-minded Southern Baptist Church in Hunterdon County.

In January, 1989, the church hired its first full time pastor.  That summer 25.8 acres of land was purchased on Route 31 as the future site of CHBC.  By January 1993, the last mortgage payment on the property had been paid.  In the summer of 1995 over 450 volunteers from all over the United States came and helped us build our present facility.  Our own congregation contributed over 10,000 hours of labor to complete the project.  We began to use our present facility in February of 1996.

CHBC has a variety of lay-led ministries that are effectively impacting lives for Christ.  We hope you will join us so you can see and hear for yourself what God is doing in and through CHBC.

Doctrinal Statement: CHBC subscribes to the doctrinal statement found in the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Affiliations: CHBC is a Southern Baptist Church.  We are part of the Southern Baptist Convention, an association of over 50,000 churches with a combined membership of almost 16 million members.  For more information about the Southern Baptist Convention visit their web site.

The Hunterdon Heart:  The heart of what we do at CHBC is about the heart.  Our philosophy of ministry is visualized in a model and a motto.  The model is known as the Hunterdon Heart.  The motto is "Building hearts that are fully committed to Christ and others."
